Grilled Cheese Pig Tongue Sandwich

Grilled cheese/pig's tongue/mushroom sandwich
It sounded like a GREAT idea, a grilled cheese and pig’s tongue sandwich, but it wasn’t. I had a craving for some grilled cheesy sandwich goodness so I bought a loaf of Texas toast, mozzarella and cheddar cheese from Trader Joe’s. What is Texas toast anyways? I like it because it’s thick. I got home and started slicing up the cheeses. I scooped the tongue and shiitake mushroom out onto a cutting board. I diced up the tongue and the mushroom. Then on a plate I placed a piece of bread down, then a layer of cheddar cheese and a layer of mozzarella cheese. I spooned the mushroom and tongue mixture onto the center. Then topped it off with another layer of mozzarella and cheddar. I got another slice of bread and put that on top and gave it a good squooshed. Now cook it like how you normally make a grilled cheese sandwich. After cooking it, I cut it diagonally, snapped a photo and took a bite.
The result: it wasn’t that great. I guess I didn’t think about the soy sauce the tongue and mushroom were bathing in. The flavor from the soy sauce gave the whole sandwich a weird taste when combined with cheese and bread. I’m sure if I had cooked the tongue differently it would’ve been a totally different sandwich.
