Market Watch: Asparagus

The 80+ degree temperatures may make us think it’s Summer, but the first appearance of asparagus reminds us that it’s only Spring. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for — I’ll be gorging myself on asparagus for the next 2-3 months.

  1. do you prefer the white or the original (green) asparagus? The white ones are so much more expensive though. Grilled asparagus is so great in a salad.


    1. @kim — I’ve only ever had white asparagus from a jar, and made a soup out of it (the recipe is on the site somewhere). If they brought white asparagus to the Farmer’s Market I’d pick it up, but in the meantime I’m very happy with the green. Today, in fact, I’m making a couple of dishes… stay tuned.
