Village Voice Choice Streets 2012

On Tuesday we attended the first ever Village Voice Choice Streets festival. Street food vendors were lined up alongside the U.S.S. Intrepid, making for a dramatic setting. The food was good and we had a lot of fun, but the best part was being able to get aboard the aircraft carrier itself. Here’s a view of the festival from the Intrepid:

The festival featured vendor veterans like the King of Falafel, as well as newcomers like the Chinese Mirch truck (who served up Tibetan style dumplings over rice). Most of the trucks only offered one or two items, so that they could serve their food more quickly, but a few offered multiple options: the Green Pirate Juice truck had a selection of juices (I had the McCarrot Park, which was delicious), and the Coolhaus truck allowed you to choose your ice cream sandwich combinations (I chose the carrot cake cookie with Guinness chip ice cream). Check out the slideshow below for my photos from the event.
