Last night I had the good fortune (and also I bought a ticket) to attend a pop-up fundraising dinner for our friends at La Newyorkina and Lonestar Taco, who are both trying to find a permanent space. It was an evening of fantastic food and great company. The dinner, which Lonestar chef Wayne Surber told us he wanted to “play around” with, was entitled “Celebrate Summer” and featured a bounty of fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. Among the highlights: lime chia agua fresca, heirloom gazpacho, and the “tres leches” dessert (desserts were by La Newyorkina’s Fany Gerson).
