Drink At Skylark Eat At The Good Fork

The Good Fork at Skylark

Many businesses are still affected by Hurricane Sandy and aren’t able to reopen. While some businesses are finding other ways to keep their restaurants/shops open as they try and bring some sort of normalcy back.

The Good Fork in Red Hook is still closed and the owners think that it’ll be another few months before they’re back. Though in the mean time they had started serving food at Skylark on 5th Ave and 11th St in Park Slope. I had heard about this partnership awhile back. The Good Fork wasn’t scheduled to take over the kitchen till much later but due to Hurricane Sandy, they were forced to start early. So if you were missing their famous pork and chives dumplings, head over to Skylark.

Eat to Blog on “Kitchen Nightmares”

Over the summer our very own Donny was invited to attend a taping of “Kitchen Nightmares” that was being filmed at Mama Maria’s here in Brooklyn. He, along with Eat to Blog BFFs Mo & Steph, was lucky enough to attend a dinner AFTER the restaurant had been cleaned up. The episode aired just a few weeks ago. In the clip from Hulu above you can hear Chef Ramsay himself refer to Eat to Blog, and if you watch the entire episode you can catch a few glimpses of Donny himself. In case you’re wondering, yes, they had to pay for their meals, and Donny referred to the re-vamped food as “okay.”

Bay Ridge Cares

Bay Ridge Cares

This past Wednesday I went down to St Mary’s Church in Bay Ridge to help out at the Bay Ridge Cares kitchen. I had no idea how the heck did we, just a handful of people, were able to churn out enough food to feed 800 people that day. But we did. It felt good to help. Check out some of the photos from that day and be sure to check out Occupy Sandy’s site or Bay Ridge Cares’ Facebook page for volunteering opportunities and info.

Bay Ridge Cares Kitchen Needs You

Bay Ridge CaresAs you all may know, there are still much to be done here in NYC after getting hit by hurricane Sandy couple weeks ago and then the nor’easter last week.

There are quite a lot of ways one can do to help out, either donating cash or clothes or supplies or food or help clean up or simply spreading the word that there are many people still without electricity and heat.

Ever since the hurricane hit, Allison Robicelli has been tweeting valuable information and coordinating through all forms of social media to get help where they are needed the most. One of the big things that came out of her efforts was the start of the Bay Ridge Cares Serving Meals that Heal. Starting today, they will be collecting food and cooking hot meals for people in need. You can sign up at the Occupy Sandy website and put “BAY RIDGE
CARES” in the MISCELLANEOUS NOTES as there is no check box for Bay Ridge yet.

Please come out and help, especially if you know how to (safely) use a knife. They need people for Monday thru Saturday from 9a-1p, 1-5p, or full days. Bay Ridge Cares is located at Saint Mary and is on the corner of 81st and Ridge Blvd. in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

LA Eats: The Food Porn Edition

I just came back from a 2 week time off in LA and it was FREAKING wonderful. Though it wasn’t all play. The first week I spent it with these guys (yes I was doing work) and the second week was a total tv on the couch time.

Besides eating burgers from In-N-Out and mom’s cooking, most of the meals I had were from places I have never been before. Luckily everything I ate during my 2 weeks in LA was mighty delicious.

Check out what I ate after the jump…
