Market Watch: Purple Daikon Radish

This time of year the farmer’s markets are dominated by root vegetables and hear greens. That doesn’t mean there’s no variation on those themes — at Evolutionary Organics they had about a dozen types of radishes and turnips. I’ve been meaning to make some spicy pickled radishes ever since eating some great ones at Legend, so I picked up a few of these purple daikons. Daikons have a slightly spicy taste already; with some vinegar and some chili oil I think I can boost that quite a bit.
