I keep getting Walter’s and Walter Foods mixed up, thinking they’re the same place. So Walter Foods is in Williamsburg while Walter’s is in Fort Greene. Got it? Got it.
My friend that had the fried chicken at Walter Foods in Williamsburg said it was just average and she’s right. The chicken here, 1 drum and 2 thighs, is served with mashed potatoes, gravy and spicy honey. While the idea of jamming fried chicken into my mouth with mashed potatoes sounded perfectly comforting in this cold weather, I couldn’t help but felt the chicken was lacking a little something. Extra bit of salt? More flavor to the brining liquid? Though a generous pour of spicy honey on the chicken didn’t suck.
This is no destination fried chicken but a pretty okay if you live in the neighborhood sort of chicken.
